Anatomy Of A Flower

Stamen : The Male
parts of the flower. Includes the Anther and the Filament.
Anther : The Anthers
contain the pollen sacs. They release pollen which is rubbed onto insects.
The insects transfer the pollen to the Stigma of the same flower or
another flower.
Filament : Supports the
Anther.
Carpel : The female
parts of the flower. Includes the Stigma, Style and Ovary.
Stigma : Collects pollen
that is transferred from the Anthers of the same or another flower. It is
covered in a sticky substance to trap the pollen.
Style : Supports the
Stigma and positions it above the Ovary.
Ovary : Contains and
protects the Ovule. After fertilization, it will become the fruit of the
plant.
Ovule : Contained inside
the Ovary. After being fertilized, it will become the seed.
Petal : The colorful
part of the flower that attracts insects to help fertilize the flower.
Sepal : Small leaves on
the underside of the flower which protect it while it develops from a bud.
