Hibiscus

There are over 200 species of Hibiscus. They produce flowers that are large and trumpet shaped with 5 petals. Colors can include red, yellow, pink and purple. Each petal can be between 4 and 15 centimeters. Because of their large flowers, Hibiscus are often used as shrubs in landscaping.

Hibiscus have many uses. One variety is used to make paper while another is a popular vegetable and an ingredient in jams and teas. Yet another variety of Hibiscus is used as a treatment for nausea and high blood pressure.
