Lilacs

The Lilac is a flowering shrub
originally native to Europe and Asia often found in gardens and parks.
They can range in size from small shrubs of four feet to trees of thirty
feet. They produce flowers in spring and the flowers can range from white
to pink to purple. The flowers are about 1 centimeter in diameter and will
have four petals. If the plant is pruned however, it is not likely to
produce flowers and may not produce flowers again for several years.
They come in hundreds of
varieties including:
Syringa Meyeri which will reach
four to eight feet in height with violet to purple flowers.
Syringa Patula which will reach
a height of nine to ten feet is also known as Manchurian Lilac and will
bloom year round.
