Poinsettias

The Poinsettia is best known as
a staple of Christmas decorations. It is also known as the Christmas Star
and the Mexican Flame Leaf. It is native to South Mexico and Central
America. The name Poinsettia comes from the man who introduced the flower
to the United States, Joel Roberts Poinsett.
The flower itself is very
small. It is surrounded however by large brightly colored leaves making it
seem larger. Poinsettias can range in height from 2 to 10 feet and has
dark green leaves on its bottom with bright red leaves on its top.
