Sweet Peas

The Sweet Pea is a flower
originally native to the Mediterranean. It is a climbing plant that will
grow from six to nine feet in height. The flowers were originally purple
but are now available in many other varieties. The name comes from the
sweet fragrance that they put off but despite this fragrance, their seeds
are poisonous.
Sweet Peas are annual plants
that require full sun and grow best in cooler climates. They will bloom in
late spring or early summer and require rich well drained soil to thrive.
They will generally require a fence or trellis for support as they grow.
